The Southport Lions Club's association with Broom sales relates to the fact that the Brooms are all made by Industries For The Blind in northern NC where both blind and visually impaired workers staff the Broom Making assembly line. During early October of each year the Southport Lions Club members will sell brooms in the historical section of Southport at the Cape Fear Waterfront Park near the end of Howe Street at Whittler's Bench.
